It seems that the EU can actually continue to amaze me!

Whilst I was reading my favourite Daily Newspaper (The Daily Mail) I chanced upon an interesting article about EU expenditure. It appears that British taxpayers are paying the best part of £800m for basket weaving and slapstick acting for young people across Europe. This scheme includes a promotion to encourage afternoon siestas, the aim of such a preposterous scheme is to make us “feel European”. Surely the fact we live in the continent of Europe makes us Europeans in the same sense we call people from Africa, Africans?

One particular venture in Finland received thousands to support a Coffee House, which offered people the opportunity to ‘sleep for free’. I don’t remember that last time I had to pay to recuperate in my bed! The Taxpayers Alliance spoke up against this scheme, “UK Taxpayers have a right to know if money is being spent wisely or wasted on frivolity”, and quite rightly too.

This fund will support the scheme until December 2013 and is being developed by the European Commission. The primary aim of this project is to promote European citizenship, not National citizenship.

What a shocking exercise is brainwashing, and using our money to do it! This kind of frivolity from the EU machine is simply designed to wipe our National identity from our minds in order to “build a better Europe”. Perhaps this is a classic example of he fact that the EU is not working and is unpopular, and they are turning towards such projects to fool people into this idea of a “Union of Europeans”. Yes the EU is unpopular, yes people love their country and are proud of their heritage, therefore why don’t those bureaucrats realise this and accept it?

All the more reason to get out of the EU, as quickly as possible – what next a “Ministry of Truth” offering EU History experiences?
